National Energy Summit, in association with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy conducted National Energy Investment Summit 2011 on the 21st and 22nd of July 2011.
Mr.Deepak Gupta, the honourable Secretary to the MNRE in his keynote address said, “We are now in an era of green energy. Governments and businesses have realized the importance of going green, meaning the Indian renewable energy sector is growing rapidly.”
Elucidating the focus of MNRE in developing green energy, he spoke about the following.
- The regulatory framework under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission
- Government support for wind, hydro and bio‐mass sectors
- Benefits of investing in the renewable energy sector in India
- Incentives and benefits for global companies and international investors
- How competitive is the Indian market compared to the rest of the world?
EAI’s Senior Consultant Madhavan Nampoothiri was a panelist in the focus panel discussion on ‘Commercial benefits and incentives from global initiatives ‐ what does CDM and CER mean to investors and captive producers’.
The discussion dealt with the following topics
