Changzhou Trina Solar Energy Company intends to enter the solar energy market. It has signed an agreement with Chennai-based GEMAC Energy Ltd for entry into the Indian market.

Trina manufactures mono and multi-crystalline silicon cells and modules. It is China’s third and the world’s eighth largest solar cell manufacturer and exported over 800 MW of solar panels in 2009.

Of special interest to me was the fact that the company would be interested in the BIPV market (building integrated solar PV). The company has designs where the solar panels fit into the outer walls of buildings, enhancing the aesthetics while at the same time generating power for the building.
