While the most common place for solar panels on a building is the rooftop, it need not always be the case.
There are enough folks worldwide who would like more parts of their building covered by solar panels, so that they can get more power generated from the sun by utilizing as much as area of their building as possible.
These installations, called Building Integrated Photovoltaics, can look attractive (not always though, mind you!). While there are enough doubts about the economic viability of BIPV (as of 2016 they are damn too expensive), for some, there are other business cases as mentioned earlier.
