West Bengal Green Energy Development Corporation (WBGEDC) says, ones own building rooftops can earn money and supply energy to an individual. It says one needs 35,000 square feet of roof space to generate 250 kilo-watts of power.
According to WBGEDC, Kolkatta which has 6 million and 200 billion square feet of roof space can harvest 2000 Mega Watt of solar energy. To exploit this potential and help people earn income, it has approached the state energy regulatory commission to make it mandatory to use solar energy in all new houses.
It has also brought legislation under which power utilities will take the energy into their grid, from any person or organization that generates more than 250 kilo-watts. Even if the generation is between 2 and 250 kilo-watts, the power will be channelised to the grid and the sum owed would be adjusted against the electricity bill. The feeding tariff is Rs 15 per unit.
Apart from this, the producer would be given a green certificate which one can sell to earn. Besides, he would be entitled to a carbon credit benefit for adopting a clean development mechanism (CDM).

Just in case you are interested in knowing how to tap solar power for your home or factory, visit Solar Mango that provides comprehensive details on how to use solar for decentralised power generation from rooftops and also provides details on the cost of generating solar power from rooftops and the amount of electricity solar PV systems can generate.
Your logic of PV power Generation is not economicial for Indian Consumers , Means India Should not depend on FDI for The projects finiancial part. [ 250 KW of power on Roof Top requires 35000 SFT Roof Area ] , In India When TC is Provided 250KW [ Per house Power required is around 500 Watts to 2KW ] Which means 250KW/2KW= 125 Houses can be powered with 2KW power also 35000/125=285 SFT of Roof space per house.
But in Several Places Multiple DEwlings and Floors are in and around There in Finding 285 SFT Roof Space I can Give in my locality , I know around 3KW of power Can be generated will Electricy department will bear the cost of Reverse Grid Feed billing system in India. In Present Status Consumers can Afford to put a deposit of 20% Annual power bill? Means A consumer Monthly power billing costs Rs.2000 for A year costs Rs.24000 , There in consumers are ready to pay Amount of Rs.4800 as thier contribution to Generate PV power , Considering the FACT , in 285 SFT Rooftop space Around 3KW power can be generated per house, In Such state Electricity department Shound not Change thier power billing cost in both the ways means using power and selling the power. If this happens now , why not the technology integration talk takes place after 25 years , I recall that Solar power Projects during 1985. Till Today Sunlight is wasted for past 25 years in India. If there is chance to meet you I will visit your office for Solar PV Assembley plant,
In Simple way PV Can be integrated who will bear the Cost of Battery In india we lag Lipo / FE battery / Lion battery plants.
Also More Transparent should be there in Solar Integration means [ I look in for Technology of 1KW power , on Cost of Rs.1000 Per month / 24×7 1KVA power is generated for 1 day ] or [ One lakhs Per household investment and Power corpration should give Free power of 1KVA power for next 25 years ] And With Intrest the Capitial investment should be given to consumers.
This will be around 24KW of power drain in each house per day. Also Several Aspects India lags in terms of power generation and power boosting systems. If Electricity is Free Power hype from various States should be lifted.
