BASF Catalysts India, a private company incorporated in 1997 offers exceptional expertise in the development of technologies that protect the air we breathe, produce the fuels that power our world and ensure efficient production of a wide variety of chemicals, plastics and other products, including advanced battery materials.

Product Profile

BASF is a leading cathode active material (CAM) supplier to battery producers. Materials for the cathode – the positive electrode within a battery – have a huge impact on battery performance, which enables longer driving distances, shorter recharge time and lower costs.

BASF’s portfolio for the electric vehicle industry also includes light-weight plastics, functional coatings and more.

Future Plans

BASF is also working on plans to cut the nickel content by more than half while increasing the proportion of cheap and abundant manganese

R&D

BASF started a new state-of-the-art ‘Creation Centre’ at its Navi Mumbai R&D campus in May 2019. It brings customers and its own experts together to analyse their diverse needs and co-create new products and chemical solutions.

Global Work

  • BASF chose a new site in Germany for its battery materials production plant in February 2020.
