Previously owned by Ford of US and now by Geely of China, Volvo is a swedish luxury automotive manufacturer with core emphasis on safety, famous for the invention of the three point seat belt. The company has its own place in the Automotive industry as a huge fan of PHEVs.

Volvo Cars manufactures SUVs, station wagons, sedans and compact executive sedans. Today, it is a subsidiary of the Chinese automobile company, Geely. Volvo Cars, known in Swedish as Volvo Personvagnar, has its headquarters in Torslanda in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Product Profile
Volvo’s first fully electric car will be the XC40 recharge.
In total Volvo has announced that it will introduce five full-electric (battery-electric) vehicles between 2019 and 2021. Three of these cars will be Volvo branded models and two will be Polestar-branded performance cars
Future Plans
- Volvo, which has already finalised plans to locally assemble plug-in hybrid vehicles, is now considering local assembly of electric vehicles in the country.in 2018
- The company is on course to launch the first plug-in hybrid vehicle assembled locally in India later this year and plans to have a portfolio of half- a-dozen plug-in hybrids and battery-operated electric vehicles in India by 2021.( XC90)
- The company announced that it will be the first to have a ‘Make in India’ plug-in hybrid.

The company believes It takes at least 5 years to have a complete electric vehicle as hybrids give the comfort of both petrol and electric options
