Scotland again underlined its position as the UK’s leading renewable energy market as the government approved plans for two giant wind farms, while utility SSE revealed it now boasts more than 1GW of onshore wind capacity.
The Scottish government announced last week that it has approved plans for the 177MW Dorenell wind farm on the Glenfiddich estate, near Dufftown in Moray, while also rubberstamping a proposed 21MW extension of the existing 104MW Muaitheabhal wind farm on the Eisgein estate in Lewis.
Combined the new projects will deliver enough capacity to provide power for 93,000 homes.
