The New EQ

Those clued in to works by Daniel Goleman will be well aware of the concept of Emotional Intelligence and the accompanying metric Emotional Quotient (EQ).

EI & EQ are powerful concepts. They are especially relevant in industrial and corporate settings, where managing and leading teams need intelligence that go beyond pure logic and math. Call it mushy, but emotional intelligence is critical when you deal with people – those who score high on EQ thus have a high likelihood of success in their professions (and also life, perhaps?).

As the world moves beyond the industrial revolution and towards an environmental revolution, EQ has to take a new meaning – Environmental Quotient (supported by Environmental Intelligence). If everyone in the world were to develop high EQs (and we are 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 it can be developed!), we could be living in a very different planet 50 years from now.

My team at CliDemy – the Climate Academy and I are working on a framework for the new EQ, and we will perhaps be in a position to take inputs from you all in a few weeks’ time, but here are the 3 basic thoughts we have on what could constitute EQ:
