Is Silicon Valley becoming the Cleantech Valley too?

About 7 years back, just back from a trip to SFO, I wrote a blog post (https://lnkd.in/eYQ_5xF ) on how perhaps some region in the world should create a powerful cleantech ecosystem by modelling it on Silicon Valley, with proximity of diverse talent and resources being a prime driver for such an ecosystem.

Seven years later, I’m wondering if there are hints of such an ecosystem emerging – but in Silicon Valley once again! There have been quite a few interesting cleantech startups from this region last few years, and even Tesla’s gravity defying valuation probably has a lot to do with it being HQed at Silicon Valley and led by a geek. (A month ago, I read that Musk was planning to shift to Austin, Tx…well, well…)
