Deep dive into our work

Sandith Thandasherry, a naval architect from

Kerala, has pioneered the design and development of solar powered boats to reduce diesel use. His startup NavAlt Solar & Electric Boats Pvt Ltd, has built the 20-metre-long

catamaran ferry boat made from glass-reinforced plastic with solar panels on its roof.

His boats have already started playing Kerala’s waters.

I remember meeting Sandith in Cochin about three years back, when I was the moderator of an

KSIDC panel discussion. When I came to know his alma mater was also Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and that he had studied naval architecture, it was hugely satisfying – someone from IITM Naval Arch actually doing something with his education right in India is worth being impressed about.

EAI INCLINE wishes Sandith the very best with his solar ferries.
