Made for India, Made in India wind turbine from Vestas
Showcased at EAI INCLINE – https://lnkd.in/gZK-B7y
Vestas, a global leader in wind turbines announced late last year that it had launched a new variant of turbine optimised for low and ultra-low wind project conditions in India.
The windturbine would be locally manufactured in India. The V155-3.3 MW turbine would increase the turbine swept area by 67% compared to a V120-2.2 MW. For a 300 MW wind farm, it is reported that this will improve the annual energy production by more than 3% with 46 fewer turbines. If this report is true, it sounds like a real deal.
Vestas has long done R&D in India (at its center in Chennai), and I’m hoping that the innovation and R&D needed for such localization will be carried out in India too.
EAI INCLINE wishes Vestas all the best!
