EU’s opens applications for €10 billion clean tech innovation fund – and so should India!
EU has been at the forefront of sustainability actions – not just issued bold statements, also bold actions.
Did you know that it has a Euro 1 TRILLION Green Recovery plan to align large scale investments and actions over the next few decades aligned to sustainability?
As part of this goal, the EU announced a Euro 10 billion war chest to be spent over 10 years to bring clean energy innovations to market. (Read more – https://lnkd.in/gtReSBv )
While I heard many significant investment announcements in Nirmala Sitharaman’s 2021 budget. I don’t remember large scale budgets for green & clean energy innovation being one of them. Sure, there were announcements for innovations in general, but nothing specifically for cleantech innovations.
India is the world’s third large CO2 emitting nation – emissions from all EU countries together are only slightly higher than ours. We too need a bold budget for green energy innovation. Talk is all fine, but without SERIOUS investments in innovation, we would be left borrowing clean technologies from outside for decades.
