670% population increase, 1,65,000% CO2 emissions increase between 1800 and 2020
1800 is whenabouts that the climate change folks refer to as pre-industrial times, and CO2 emissions, cumulative CO2 levels and global temperatures are benchmarked with those during that time period (idea is to keep down global emissions so we do not breach 2 deg C above temperatures during pre-industrial times).
We did a quick data comparison between 1800 and 2020.
The CO2 emissions in 1800 were about 0.03 billion tons, and the global population about 1 billion. In 2019, these were 35 billion tons and 7.7 billion.
Do a bit of math and you find out that during this period, global population increased by 670%, while CO2 emissions increased by 1,65,000%.
