Biomass is a distributed source of energy. Is that an opportunity or a problem?
There is one thing about fossil fuels that makes them incredibly useful – they are concentrated in large amounts at certain places, making it easy for extraction, logistics and processing on scale and with their attendant efficiencies.
And that is precisely the challenge with its greener alternative biomass – it is highly distributed, resulting in significant inefficiencies in logistics, especially for their use in commercial and industrial segments.
