THE INDIA CLIMATE CHALLENGES DISCUSSION @ LINKEDIN

Almost every professional working in climate change (researchers, startups. corporates, govt. officials, investors, activists) is on LinkedIn but the collective climate action value I see from their interactions on this platform is pathetic – and I’m being uncharacteristically generous in my choice of adjective.

Why this gap? Part of the reason is that LinkedIn operates more like a C2C social network where content value is mostly of temporary/transient value. B2C and B2B sector – especially the latter – create content valuable over a longer timeline. In addition, the way LinkedIn treats discussions currently also trivializes them into comments rather than insightful interactions.

But even with the above constraints, 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞?

The above is the hypothesis I will be testing with the launch on LinkedIn of India Climate Challenges Discussion. This is a collection of about 50 challenges/questions my team and I have identified that merit discussion in the context of driving India towards Net Zero. Most of these (about three quarters) are based on insights we drew from our consulting work last one decade, while I have deliberately included about 10 questions that are exploratory in nature. I might edit/add some based on inputs.

Each challenge is presented as a separate post, so you can engage with each individually.

If you are a professional in the climate action sector (Energy, Environment, Resources, Finance, Innovation…) 𝐝𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬/𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.

Let’s see how this goes.
