It was almost 2 years back when I wrote about how solar is a good solution for Andaman & Nicobar islands, as they are remote, get lots of sun and wind, and have to depend on costly diesel for most of their power.
Now, I read about how a small atoll near New Zealand will operate almost fully on solar power.
I think these are the places to start for solar and many other renewables – not the large cities and urban areas where people still get electricity and oil at really low costs, but in those locations that get their energy at much higher costs, if at all they get that is. This in fact was the logic that inspired EAI’s Diesel to Renewable forays.
