The Radisson Blu Hotel in Frankfurt has installed a hydrogen fuel cell system, making it the first hotel in Europe to generate its own energy using this technology. The fuel cell provides approximately 3 GWh of electricity and 2 GWh of heat annually, significantly reducing the hotel’s CO2 emissions by about 600 tons per year. This initiative is part of Radisson Hotel Group’s broader sustainability strategy, which aims to decrease energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy sources.

2. Kawasaki King Skyfront Tokyu Rei Hotel, Japan

This hotel is recognized as the world’s first hydrogen-powered hotel that generates energy from waste products. It employs hydrogen fuel cell technology to produce 30% of its energy from discarded plastics and 70% from food waste. This innovative approach not only powers the hotel but also contributes to significant reductions in carbon emissions, showcasing a circular economy model in the hospitality sector.

3. H2 Hotel, Germany

In Germany, the H2 Hotel is being developed to operate entirely on hydrogen fuel. This project aims to utilize local hydrogen production facilities and is part of a larger initiative to promote hydrogen as a clean energy source across various sectors, including tourism. The hotel is designed to be fully sustainable, with plans to integrate local renewable energy sources into its operations.

4. The Hydrogen Hotel Project, Australia

In Australia, a pilot project is underway to create a hotel that will run on green hydrogen. This initiative is part of a broader push by the Australian government to develop hydrogen as a key energy source for various industries, including tourism.
