The Radisson Blu Hotel in Frankfurt has installed a hydrogen fuel cell system, making it the first hotel in Europe to generate its own energy using this technology. The fuel cell provides approximately 3 GWh of electricity and 2 GWh of heat annually, significantly reducing the hotel’s CO2 emissions by about 600 tons per year. This initiative is part of Radisson Hotel Group’s broader sustainability strategy, which aims to decrease energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy sources.
2. Kawasaki King Skyfront Tokyu Rei Hotel, Japan
This hotel is recognized as the world’s first hydrogen-powered hotel that generates energy from waste products. It employs hydrogen fuel cell technology to produce 30% of its energy from discarded plastics and 70% from food waste.
