“How much investment is expected in India’s wind energy sector?”

To this question, Dr. Anil Kane, President, World Wind Energy Association, and Chairman, Indian Wind Energy Association, says: “1 MW of installed capacity costs Rs 5.5 crore to Rs 6 crore. This means Rs 44,000 crore has been already invested (as 8000 MW of wind energy is already installed). Looking at the growth rate, a further Rs 12,000 crore worth of investment should take place every year for quite sometime.” (interview done sometime in 2008, it appears)

12,000 crores per year. Man, this is quite big.
