Alstom Hydro's New Project on Teesta River in Sikkim - India Renewable Energy Consulting – Solar, Biomass, Wind, Cleantech

Alstom Hydro has been awarded a new project with Lanco Infratech Limited, a private business conglomerate, to install a new power plant on the Teesta River in the Sikkim region of India. The 500 MW electricity output of the new hydro plant will be connected to the country’s power grid, and will help to meet the growing power demand of Maharashtra.

Within the scope of this contract, worth approximately EUR40m ($56m), Alstom Hydro will supply four 125 MW Francis turbines and generators, as well as the main inlet valves and control and protection systems. The contract includes design, engineering, erection, testing and commissioning. The project is scheduled for completion by 2013.

The hydropower projects that Alstom is currently involved in include Lower Jurala (240 MW), Chamera (230 MW), Uri-II (240 MW), Chuzachen (110 MW) and Subansiri (2000 MW).
