Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, GSPC, has encountered fresh oil bearing sands in its latest well at the lucrative Cambay basin block CB-ONN-2002/3. Reliable company sources have told reporters that additional oil sands have been found at the SE-10 location in Cambay last week.

While details on fresh flow rates at SE-10 are awaited, GSPC is learnt to have completed reserve evaluation work for all its finds in the block during the last one year. The Declaration of commerciality (DOC) is being forwarded to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) for approval.

Oil sands? Do they mean tar sands? I hope not! This could be a remake of what’s happening in Alberta, Canada (link ), with the environment around the entire region being destroyed by Big Oil for its tar sands.
