TiE Cleantech India Conference - Hyderabad, 17 Dec 2009 - India Renewable Energy Consulting – Solar, Biomass, Wind, Cleantech

I had attended the conference and had spent the entire day at the Marriott Convention Centre at Hyderabad. I must say it was one of the most productive 8 hours I spent at any conference for a long, long time.

Organized by TiE Hyderabad and supported by New Ventures India, Nexus Capital, and SONG Investment Advisors among others, this conference had a clear focus on networking Indian cleantech companies and investors who were interested in cleantech funding.

Guess the whole day was very productive because of the focus which resulted in every interaction being purposeful.

I had been there to explore how my company (Clixoo) could take the algae fuels venture we have (Oilgae) to the next stage, and I was delighted to find that I did not have to explain what algae fuels were all about to anyone. Everyone I spoke to already knew that algae fuels were one of the hottest research areas in biofuels and they even had their own points of view about it. Was able to get a couple of VCs interested in talking to me further on it; so could say it was not a bad day at all from a business point of view.

The list of who attended (or at least were interested in attending) is here.

Deep dive into our work

The whole show was coordinated by Karthik of SONG ventures and Sanjoy Sanyal of New Ventures (and Manoj Gupta of Nexus, who couldn’t be present on that day). Sanjoy was especially good in his speeches and his sense of humour and respect for ensuring that everything was getting done in time went a long way in making the event worth every cent folks paid in terms of their time and energy to attend it.

Great show folks!
