Karnataka is getting very popular among Solar PV developers, as seen in how  Conergy AG has erected a 3 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Karnataka, the 2nd private solar PV plant with so large a capacity. Conergy’s plant is for the local utility, KPCL, and the 13,000 solar modules, covering 17.3 acres, produce 4 GWh for the local grid. The solar PV plant will supply electricity to the local rural population around the small city of Itnal in the province of Karnataka. With the erection of the solar PV power plant, over 80% of the residents in and around Itnal will have access to electricity, Conergy says, which will be used for water pumps, amongst other things.
