Rise and rise of solar in Australia

Solar power adoption in Australia has shown impressive growth recently – in both rooftop and ground mounted segments.

While the growth of solar power plants is impressive worldwide, it is even more so in Australia.

End of 2020, Australia had a total electricity generation of about 80 GW, of which about 20 GW was solar – 25% of total capacity! Almost 70% of this solar capacity was added in the previous two years alone.

Even more noteworthy is the growth of rooftop solar which added over 2.5 GW in 2020 alone with over 300,000 installations. Impressive indeed for a country that has just over 8 million households – so that would 4% of ALL households installing rooftop solar in JUST ONE year.
