Countries around the world are desperately trying to figure out how to reduce their emissions to get to Net Zero before 2100 – that is, they emit no NET greenhouse gases, in other words, whatever they emit, they also capture back and store in some form.

Some countries plan to reach such an incredibly difficult target by 2050, some by 2070, and so on.

Most countries are essentially talking about 3-6 decades of massive efforts at decarbonization before they achieve it – there is still a big IF for most of them.

Deep dive into our work

While, on the other side, right now, there are countries that are not just carbon zero, they are carbon NEGATIVE – 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸.

Am I dreaming? No, such countries exist.

Why don’t you guess which of the four countries I list in today’s Clidemy Climate Poll is actually carbon negative?

𝑶𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏, 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒈𝒍𝒆 (𝒐𝒓 𝒃𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒐r 𝒚𝒂𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐𝒐). 𝑵𝒐 𝒇𝒖𝒏, 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆. Put your thinking cap on, make your best guess, and well, this way you learn best!

And once you finish making your choice, it is 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 time for you to search and figure out how indeed this country (and two others) has been able to achieve such an enviable feat.
