Here’s an article posted in Punekar News

    According to the article,

    • Pune Kickstarts Maharashtra’s Design for Hydrogen Valley: The city is leading the way in creating a sustainable energy ecosystem in Maharashtra

Lets get to know some key facts about hydrogen valleys:

    1. There are over 30 Hydrogen Valleys globally, with more projects emerging.
    2. The cumulative investment volume in these Hydrogen Valleys is over EUR 30 billion.
    3. Hydrogen Valleys cover a broad range of end uses, including industrial feedstock, heavy-duty road mobility, energy storage, and more.
    4. Hydrogen Valleys are spread globally, with Europe being the lead market, followed by North America and the APAC and MENA regions.
    5. Three archetypes of Hydrogen Valleys have emerged: smaller-scale local mobility-centered projects, medium-scale industrial decarbonization variants, and large-scale export-oriented projects.
    6. Key success factors for Hydrogen Valleys include regional hydrogen ecosystems, pooling demand, scaling production, sharing infrastructure, and reducing costs.

The Hydrogen Valley in Pune, like other valleys, will combine the complete hydrogen value chain, from production to storage and transportation, to reach a critical scale and unlock learning curve effects. This will enable local industries to access the necessary infrastructure, supply chains, and expertise to incorporate hydrogen into their operations.

Companies in Pune have already started working on hydrogen projects, such as h2e Power Systems setting up a $50 million electrolyzer manufacturing facility, and CSIR-NCL collaborating with Sentient Labs to launch India’s first indigenous hydrogen fuel cell bus. The Hydrogen Valley will further catalyze such local innovation and manufacturing.

With various industries in Pune already established such as mobility, fine chemicals, steel, fertilizers, data centers, cold storage, and gated communities, this Hydrogen Valley can help these industries adopt and utilize hydrogen technologies, thus furthering India’s progress in achieving the National Green Hydrogen Mission goals by 2030.
