The good news for meat lovers is that they can NOW have the cake and eat it too - that is, they can have the joy of tasting “meat” without having to grow cattle and without the concomitant emissions. One alternative is plant-based meat, an industry that seems to have evolved fairly fast both worldwide and in India.
It is early days yet to assume that plant-based meat is the perfect solution to low carbon meat, but it certainly appears like a great approach for a start.
A number of Indian startups have entered the plant-based meat segment, with at least a couple of them having celebrity founders or investors.
Blue Tribe Foods is one of the more prominent plant-based meat startups in India, and it could not have asked for a more high-profile set of investors - Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma.
Team EAI wishes Blue Tribe the very best!
