Brazil is an acknowledged leader in ethanol use for automotives.
The country blends close to 30% ethanol in gasoline (petrol). Ethanol blending has been happening since 1976.
In addition, for almost 20 years (since 2003) dual fuel vehicles that can use either gasoline or ethanol have been promoted.
India has been a follower in this context, but it can use the follower’s advantage of learning from the leader’s mistakes as well as best practices. In this context, a good first step has been taken, and that is the collaborative plan between SIAM and UNICA to create a CoE in bio-energy.
