TÜV SÜD expands water quality control, assurance and efficiency consultancy portfolio in India

Testing and certification major, TÜV SÜD, today, announced that it will be among the key partners of the German Water Partnership (GWP) in India to provide consultancy services in water quality control, quality assurance and efficiency improvement to industries and municipal corporations.

TÜV SÜD currently plans to utilize its global expertise in water efficiency and sustainability consulting, to partner with industries and state governments across the country and assist them in upgrading the quality and efficiency of raw water usage and waste water management. To begin with, the company has already commenced work with a few municipality projects in Uttrakhand and Andhra Pradesh to help them with consultancy for quality assurance and inspection of water pipelines and effective distribution though efficient usage of energy. In the private sector, TUV SUD is already involved with many manufacturers in the cement and paper sectors for water efficiency audit and water footprint mapping.

The German Water Partnership is a joint initiative between German private and public sectors, which aims to make German engineering easily available to water intensive industries and local governments across the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Bratin Roy, AVP and Head, energy and environment services at TÜV SÜD South Asia said that, “The water availability per person in India has shrunk by 70% in the last six decades and the industrial demand for water is set to rise by 57% by 2025. Identifying the urgent need to efficient use of water, the industry and the government have initiated steps to incorporate changes in their processes by adapting best practices, sensitising employees and people at large.  Considerable investments are also being made by the administration to generate awareness about water use, efficiency, conservation and management. Our services are aimed at helping businesses sustainably optimize usage of water.”

TÜV SÜD will also be showcasing their entire range of services in water treatment and efficiency at the IFAT exhibition in Mumbai which will be the first of its kind in India to focus on water, sewage, refuse and recycling. At the exhibition TÜV SÜD’s global experts will educate businesses about the rising requirement for industrial water efficiency considering the depleting levels of surface and underground water, through innovative techniques like water recycling, reduction and zero discharge techniques.
