Cairn India, a leading player in Indian oil and gas industry, from its new production facility in Rajasthan is expected to account for more than 20% of India’s total crude production. It is expected to

  • Produce 1,75,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd), yielding enough fuel daily for about 3.4 million cars or fill 4.5 million domestic LPG cylinders per months
  • Provide fuel for a 3.4 million cars each day, averaging about 150 litres per car per month.
  • Yield LPG to fill 4.5 million domestic cylinders per month at the rate of 14.2 kg per cylinder.
  • Currently India produces around 660,000 barrels per day and importing the rest. In addition, the demand for petrol and diesel has grown by 9% and 8.4% respectively in 2008-09. The additional fuel supply by Cairn will make a significant addition to the country’s crude oil production.
