Vedanta Group plans to generate 11,000 MW by 2012, with about 4500 MW slated by 2010. It plans to invest about Rs 50,000 crores for these capacities. That would be about 4.5 crores per MW installed capacity.

About 50% of power produced will be for commercial purposes with the rest for captive use.

The company has invested in projects in Punjab and Orissa.
