Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, one of the largest research centres in Germany, is in parleys with Indian companies to share its research and development expertise and assist in providing testing capability to solar generation companies.
The Director of Fraunhofer Institute, Prof Eicke R. Weber, said that research over the years has helped bring about significant changes in both manufacturing technologies and in bringing down costs. “We are in the process of sharing this knowledge with new solar power generation companies,” he said.
The Institute entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Knowledge Infrastructure Park, part of University of Hyderabad, and Indian Semiconductor Association, to initiate collaborative research, and to offer testing and verification services. This arrangement also seeks to provide training programme on solar energy.
