China’s growth is very impressive – not just in terms of total installed capacity, but also in terms of capacity per capita, where they are significantly ahead of India. Given India’s large installed capacity it is surprising to see very little R&D activity happening here. Japan’s offshore turbines standing up to both the earthquake and tsunami shows that this is a very promising area where reliability is concerned.
