For many industrial and commercial sector, the cost of energy (especially power) is a significant portion of their operating costs.
It is thus of increasing concern to many of these establishments that the cost of grid power has been increasing all the time.
In many states, the final cost of grid power (without accounting for power purchases from energy exchanges), is in the range of Rs 6.2-6.5 for industrial consumers and close to Rs 7.5 for commercial establishments. And mind you, this cost does not include the cost incurred in the use of diesel genset for power generation.
As if the above are not enough, there is enough evidence to suggest that these costs could increase significantly over the next 2-3 years.
What are the various options and avenues available with the Indian industry to bring the cost of power under control?
One of the most sustainable options will be to go for what else, sustainable power sources, especially, solar and/or wind power.
This blog will discuss these. I also welcome your views and opinions on the same – please send your thoughts to narsi at eai.in
