In a long decision overdue, the MNRE has decided to remove the capital subsidies for commercial and industrial sectors.
What a relief.
This subsidy, which arrives late, if at all, had probably enriched more babus and their lackeys than those putting up rooftop solar. As a result, it was just a pain in the neck that just delayed decisions rather than accelerated commercial and residential rooftop solar installations
With this removal, the reduced subsidy of 15% will now be available only for 4 categories – residences, educational/research institutes, government buildings and social sector buildings (old age homes etc).
Good riddance.
And now, let’s get on with our jobs of convincing the industrial and commercial segments to go solar.
