Ather developed India’s first premium electric scooter which included advanced telemetry and high performance technology powered by Li-ion batteries.
Company Profile
Started by IIT-Madras Alumni, Ather energy raised a total of 91M USD in four rounds of investments. The major investors include Tiger Global company, Hero Motocorp along with Flipkart founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal.
Product Profile
- Ather 450 and 450X premium scooters.
- Ather Space, is an experience centre where the scooter can be taken for a test ride, understood in detail etc.
- Ather Grid is a network of indigeneous fast charging stations. Currently, there are 30 charging stations in Bangalore and 10 in Chennai which offer fast charging upto 80% at 1.5km/min. They are located in crucial public areas.
Future Plans
- Ather has so far launched Ather 450, Grid, and Space and has already entered a rapid expansion phase.
- Ather Energy will be introducing both its products 450 and 450X, along with setting-up its public charging infrastructure, Ather Grid, across consumer-friendly locations such as cafes, malls, tech-parks, gyms, etc.
- To encourage adoption of EVs in the city, Ather Energy has planned free charging at Ather Points for all electric vehicles for the first 6 months.
- After witnessing tremendous success in Bengaluru with stocks of Ather 450 being sold out till September 2019 in Bengaluru alone, the company has opened its early access privileges to Chennaites and the rest of India as it ramps up.
Partnerships
- The company formed a partnership with Godrej Nature’s basket for setting-up its charging stations at 35 odd locations across the country.
R&D
Ather Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu to open a new production facility for lithium-ion batteries and electric vehicles in November 2019.
