generation activities in Gujarat, Govt approved a
25-year wind energy policy. The policy will exempt
the power producers from electricity duty and
allow captive use, seeks to utilize 1,600 km of state
coastline and waste patches of barren land for the
generation of wind power. The state plans to have
10% of its total installed capacity from renewable

India seeks to revive interest in wind
sector

The government plans to revive interest in the
wind energy sector by reintroducing tax and fiscal
incentives that were removed last year, a move
that a lobby group alleges caused a fall of 1,500
MWin
wind
power
generation
in
2012-13.
Specifically, the government is considering the
reinstatement of accelerated depreciation and
generation-based incentives (GBIs).

GAIL to set up 100 MW wind power
plants in India

Surat Municipal Corporation to set up
third wind power plant

electricity bills, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)
has set wheels in motion for the construction of
third wind power plant by appointing a consultant.
The third plant with the capacity of 6.3 MW will

JNPT to invest around Rs 50 Cr to set up
7 MW wind mill

Largest container port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port
Trust (JNPT) has invited bids from private parties
to set up 7 MW wind capacity. This will help JNPT
to save around 30 percent on energy costs. The
capacity will be built at an investment of Rs 48 Cr.
The project is expected to be awarded by
November and will be operational by April 2014.
