Aligning RE Power Closer to Nature
: Solarcentury is doing something interesting in the UK. It
intends to turn its solar farms into wildlife sanctuaries in which bumblebees, butterflies, and
other insects can thrive. This is especially important due to the dwindling bee population. It
has already started converting its solar farms into wildlife sanctuaries. However, it recently
decided to accommodate bees and butterflies.

. Now of course, some
might question the wisdom of allowing these assorted creatures in a place dedicated to
increasing the efficiency of electricity production. At the same time, look at it from another
angle

Indian Railways Turns to Solar for Lighting and AC
: OK, it is not that positive…at least, the
world’s largest railway system has asked IIT Madras to figure out and if and how solar PV
could be used to complement its existing avenues for lighting and air conditioning. Having
read the article (

), it is fairly obvious that solar panels cannot provide a
significant percentage of energy for either lighting or air conditioning (especially the latter),
given the small area footprint that the trains have and other vagaries, but it is a great start
indeed. For someone who regularly jogs by the ICF where these coaches are made, it will be
a nice feeling for me to think that there could soon be solar panels dotting the factory
premises.
Purifying Filter That Fits Into A Bottle
: WaterBean is a water-purifying filter that fits into any
water bottle turning tap water into clean drinking water. Designed by A Japan-based
entrepreneur, the filter not only removes the impurities found in ordinary tap water but also
improves your daily health by giving you the added minerals your body uses while
eliminating the need to keep purchasing bottled water. One WaterBean filter saves up to

Arctic Ice Melt is a Ticking Time Bomb That Could Release 50 Gigatons of Methane, Cost
the World $70 Trillion
: This could be a wake-up call. As the article says, even if a giant pulse
of melting and CO2 release does not happen, slow release over the next decade could land
us in a soup too -
